Pregnant people can self-refer to Apple Tree Maternity and do not need a doctor's referral. The clinic is open to all people living in the West Kootenay Boundary area and planning to birth at Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson, BC or at home in, or near Nelson. To give the best quality, comprehensive care, we encourage people to contact us early in their pregnancy. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or email us.

Breastfeeding Support
If you are experiencing breastfeeding challenges and would like to receive care from Judith Fearing or Courtney Nicholl, our lactation consultants, please have your doctor send us a short referral letter or call 250-354-3884 to make an appointment.

Referring Physicians
Please send a referral letter to Apple Tree. We will contact your patient to set up the first appointment and notify you when they have entered our care. At approximately six weeks postpartum, the care of your patient and their baby will be transferred back to you. For referrals for breastfeeding challenges, please send a referral letter to Apple Tree. Please fax referrals from your medical office to 250-354-3894.
